Colour Award System
Achievement and participation in all aspects of Cocurricular activities is celebrated at the Cocurricular Colour Awards Assembly
CRITERIA FOR GAINING A COLOUR AWARD
There are three Colour Awards that can be gained by students at Â鶹ÃÛÌÒAV.Ìý They are BLUE, SILVER and GOLD.Ìý The three awards represent three levels of achievement and participation.Ìý The Colour Awards badges are made of an enamelled colour (Blue, Silver, Gold) and are worn on the student’s College tie or College blazer.
ÌýIn general, these awards are given to students for excellence, commitment, encouragement and service in a particular cocurricular activity.
BLUE AWARD – Level 1
- May be obtained by any student from Years 7-12.
- The student must attend and exhibit high performance at training sessions/rehearsals and matches/performances.
- The student must exhibit above average ability in the activity.
- The student must have participated in the activity for at least two consecutive years. The exception to this is the student who is ‘new’ to the College and could not possibly do two consecutive years in a particular activity.
- The student must exhibit full commitment to the team/ensemble and display evidence of extra participation and service.
- The student must be nominated by the coach, director or person in charge of the activity. The Convenor of the activity must be prepared to endorse the coach’s or director’s nomination.
ÌýSILVER AWARD – Level 2
- The student must already possess a Blue Award (Level 1) for the activity. The exception to this is the student who is ‘new’ to the College.
- May be obtained by any student from Years 11 to 12.
- The student must exhibit the potential to be placed in the College’s highest team(s) or ensemble(s) for the activity.
- The student must exhibit leadership qualities and have a positive influence on others around him.
- The student must exhibit potential to gain higher representative honours (or equivalent) beyond the College in the activity. (e.g. ISA triallist)
- The student must be able to demonstrate service and commitment to the activity by assisting the coach/director in organisation and administration.
- The student must be able to demonstrate involvement with and encouragement of junior teams/ensembles and younger students within the activity via mentoring, coaching and modelling.
- The student must be nominated by the coach, director or the person in charge of the activity. The Convenor of the activity must be prepared to endorse the coach’s or director’s nomination.

GOLD AWARD – Level 3
- The student must already possess a Blue Award (Level 1) and a Silver Award (Level 2) for the activity. The exception to this is the student who is ‘new’ to the College.
- May be obtained by any student from Year 12.
- The student must have participated in the activity at the highest level in the College. Musicians must participate in at least two ensembles to be considered.
- The student must have qualified to represent the Independent School Association (ISA) in the sport (or the equivalent for a non- sporting activity).
- All the elements of the Silver Award criteria in service, commitment and encouragement of others in the activity must be self-evident in the nominee for a Gold Award.
- The student must be nominated by the coach, director or person in charge of the sport or activity. The Convenor of the activity must be prepared to endorse the Coach’s or director’s nomination.

EQUIVALENTS
Equivalents for higher representation in non-sporting activities may include but are not limited to:Ìý Senior Ensembles, gaining musical scholarships, award recipient/high placement in eisteddfods or competitions, sustained participation in an orchestra/choir/band at a local or national level, Senior Debating/Public Speaking.Ìý Rehearsals are synonymous with Training requirements.
Note:Ìý
- A student cannot receive a higher award (unless exceptional circumstances exist) unless he has received a lesser one.Ìý
- Only the highest colour badge is worn.Ìý
- Enquiries re these awards to the Assistant Principal – Cocurricular.
- Appeals can be addressed in writing to the Principal; he is the final arbiter of awards (criteria and equivalents).
